City of Willow Springs Water System
5-Year Supervised Construction Program Now Available
A study was recently completed by Scott Consulting Engineers, P.C. of the city's existing water distribution system. The firm proposed specific improvements to the system to increase the available flow and pressure in a 5-year supervised construction program. This 5-year plan explains the primary deficiency of the existing system as being the large amount of small diameter water lines (4" and smaller). The proposed improvements include replacement of approximately 12,026 linear feet of small diameter water mains with 6" and 8" lines along with fire hydrants, valves and service connections. In addition, 7,630 linear feet of new 6" and 8" lines will be added to complete loops and eliminate dead ends, thereby improving efficiency and system flexibility. The improvements, which will be completed by the City Water Department, are described and prioritized in the plan as well as a detailed breakdown of the estimated materials cost for each priority. Interested parties may receive a copy of the 5-year supervised construction plan at City Hall located at 900 W. Main Street. A detailed map of the distribution system and the prioritized improvements is also on display at City Hall.
